Filey

The long beach at Filey
Filey is a surprisingly small town with a huge beach 5 miles long - the longest stretch of sandy beach on the North Yorkshire Coast. Filey is close to Scarborough but is a much more relaxing place. The seafront is quiet and naturally beautiful with no amusement arcades to spoil the promenade and there is a backdrop of very grand victorian buildings facing out to sea - all painted a crisp white.

Filey has lovely gardens behind the promenade with a bandstand where you can enjoy brass band concerts on Sunday afternoons throught the summer season.

Filey's shops are traditional small market town shops. Most of the buildings have original frontages. There are several nice tea shops and, of course, fish and chips!
